The most common dining-room mistake in Ghana isn't the table — it's the gap around it. Here are the numbers we measure to.
Standard table sizes by seat count
4 seats: 120 × 80 cm rectangular, or a round table of 100–120 cm diameter like our Tamale round table (Ø 120 cm). 6 seats: 160–200 × 90–100 cm — our Elmina set is 200 × 100 cm, generous for six. 8 seats: 240–260 × 100–110 cm, like the Aburi table at 260 × 110 cm. Height: 75–76 cm is standard everywhere.
The clearance rule (this is the important one)
Allow 60 cm of table edge per person, and at least 90 cm from table edge to the wall — 110 cm on the serving side — so chairs pull out and people pass behind them. Measure the room first, subtract the clearances, and the right table size chooses itself.
Round vs rectangular
Round tables seat more in less floor space, suit square rooms, and end head-of-table politics. Rectangular tables suit long rooms and formal serving. Extendable tops are a custom option we build often for families who host at Christmas and Easter.
