Bed shopping in Ghana is complicated by one quiet fact: our market mixes UK and US sizing, and "queen" doesn't always mean the same thing in two shops. Here's the chart we build to.
The sizes, in centimetres
Single: 90 × 190. Double (Ghana standard): 137 × 190 — our Abetifi double. Queen: 152 × 198 — the Navrongo platform bed. King: 183 × 198 — the Mole king. Kids beds and bunk beds are built to order, usually 90 × 190 with guard rails.
The rule: measure the mattress, not the memory
Mattresses sold in Ghana — local, UK-spec and US-spec — can differ by 5–8 cm within the same named size. A frame built to the name rather than the mattress gives you either a wobble-gap or a squeeze. We build every frame to the actual mattress dimensions you give us, at no extra cost.
Which size for which room?
Leave 60 cm of walking space on each open side of the bed. A king needs a room at least 3.4 m wide to breathe; in smaller master bedrooms a queen usually lives better than a squeezed king. Kids' rooms: a single with under-bed drawers beats a bigger bare bed.
